Castle Hill A Joss and Braden Novella On Dublin Street edition by Samantha Young Literature Fiction eBooks

Castle Hill is a nice short story and sequel to the awesome book that is On Dublin Street by Samantha Young. Jocelyn and Braden already had their happy end in this book and Castle Hill is a little tidbit on their happily ever after, in other words: their wedding and their honeymoon.

It was a very nice read, just as good in quality and steamy scenes as On Dublin Street, but unfortunately too short to dive into emotional detail and an elaborate story. But we do learn that somehow, even though marriage is approaching for Jocelyn, and despite the fact that she has a new family and friends, she still isn't over her angst and fear of emotional involvement.

The story is actually a little angsty, as an unexpected event throws Joss and Braden out of their love haze and into a fight. It was interesting, and definitely an unexpected turn to this novella, but I felt like Joss and Braden were different from On Dublin Street. Don't get me wrong, but some of their reactions were not like them.

But still, it's a nice and not-too-expensive read that occupied you for a little hour. It's good but nowhere as good as the original On Dublin Street or the awesome on Fountain Bridge, which I totally encourage you to read! Also, stay tunes to the next books in the Dublin Street series, due to be released in 2014!

Castle Hill A Joss and Braden Novella On Dublin Street edition by Samantha Young Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

This was a little bit extra for my favorite couple (On Dublin Street). At first, I was thinking this novella wasn't going to be too complicated. Short, sweet, and a lot of sexy going on. It was very romantic seeing Braden's proposal, it was sweet seeing him help plan the wedding, and most of all, it was super hot seeing him sex his Joss up good and proper. That man is something else.

And then, the author hits me with some emotional angst and things felt more complicated, but in a good-cry way. Joss and Braden are journeying toward happily ever after, and when a love is this good and this big, there's bound to be issues or miscommunication again. Sometimes we can't help ourselves and we say the wrong things, react the wrong way and hurt the one we love most. But as Braden reminds her, "Life isn't perfect, we aren't perfect, but I'm telling you now, Jocelyn, we're indestructible." And that says it all.

I really liked this. It hit all the right emotions for me. Just a great follow-up to Joss and Braden and their story. Sexy, sweet, emotional and very romantic. And besides all that, I couldn't pass up the chance to spend more time with the finest caveman in Scotland.
I just about fell off my chair last year when I saw that Samantha Young was going to revisit one of my most beloved book couples, Paula and Paula...er....uh I mean Braden and Joss. On Dublin Street is one new adult novel that will always stay with me because it was so well done. The characters, the setting, the relationship development was everything I look for in a new adult romance. Since I read it back in 2012, I have read/listened to it so many times that I can quote parts of it word for word.
"You look stunning, sweetheart, but deep breaths. This is just you and me."

For the most part, Castle Hill is a continuation of On Dublin Street and I really enjoyed it. Young does go back and shares the big proposal and wedding scenes that we didn't get to see in On Dublin Street. I freaking loved them. It made me positively giddy to see Braden and Joss so happy and so in love. I always make a fuss about Braden, but I also love Joss. She is such a great character. She's a strong female character, sassy and funny, and is so much fun to read.
"I love you. You're my favorite person. And if you ever tell anyone I cried during this moment I will withhold sex for a year."

Braden Carmichael is one of the most romantic, sweet, and sexy book characters. He stuck by Joss in On Dublin Street when all she did was push him away. But there were times in this book where I wanted to give his beautiful face a little bit of a slap. Instead of Joss being the screw up, Braden is the one to jump to conclusions.

All in all I loved seeing one of my favorite book couples together again. I loved seeing their sexual banter and their sexual escapades, especially the whole airport scene. If you're worried that some of spark between them have fizzled out since we last saw them, you shouldn't be afraid. They're just as hot as they were on On Dublin Street.
I slid my arms around his shoulders as he pressed his hard body against mine. "We are so getting kicked out of first class."
His hand caressed my [butt] before coasting down my thigh and then back up under my dress. His talented fingers slipped beneath my panties and as he whispered hoarsely, "Then let's make it worth it."

Sure, there was a bit of manufactured drama in this book, but it worked for me. The conflict in this book is a pretty fundamental issue for the two of them and it caused a bit of a rift between my favorite couple. But the way the eventually worked through their issue showed growth in their relationship and made me happy for them. Young left them in a good place at the end, and I can't wait to see glimpses of them in future On Dublin Street books!
"There will be times when we don't like each other very much, but I need you to know that I will never stop loving you."

Audiobook Comments

Attention all authors Paula Costello needs to narrate more books. Hire her. I love Paula Costello if you didn't already know. She is a natural at acting and performing. She delivers Braden and Joss's lines with pure perfections, infusing her voice with the characters' personality and mannerisms. While I have not been around many Scottish people, I think her accent is so freaking good. Her accent for Braden is just perfect. Sometimes it's weird when a female narrator tries to make her voice sound masculine but Paula does the male voice with such finesse and ease. I'll admit it, I'm a little attracted to Braden/Paula. If you haven't heard Paula narrate a book, check out her narration of On Dublin Street!!
As much as I love every book in this series, nothing compares to Joss & Braden. This novella was just the icing on the cake.

"But Braden knew I loved him.
Sometimes I wondered, though if he knew how much. I wondered if he knew that just watching him sleep made me scary happy, breathless even. I wondered if he knew that he was absolutely, without a doubt, everything to me."

I loved how unconventionally this was written. This was chopped into segments, each event outlined. Joss still struggles with her ability to show her emotions, utterly terrified of losing it all. But Braden broke through her walls and fought like hell to force her to face her fears. But he wants more, he wants it all. He wants his ring on her finger, to claim her heart completely and to give her his name.

And just when my heart felt like it would burst, it broke. There was a moment in this story completely destroyed me. I was a mix of angry and desperate. These two had fought so hard and watching them hurt was completely devastating. This event allowed us to see just how much Joss had grown and a completely different side to Braden. I am not sure if I really loved that side, but it let him completely bare and vulnerable.

This completed their story perfectly and I can't wait to see what Samantha Young has in store for us with the rest of this series.
