This light romance hits the spot if you're looking for love without too much angst. Kate is forced to return home after her "perfect" job falls through and her only option is in her small home town. It's a 12-month gig, so she's biding her time until she can pursue her career choice (prosecuting attorney) somewhere else. The only real positives is that she's able to room with her best friend, and ogling the hot guy at the gym. Then she discovers the hot guy is James, the once awkward boy she agreed to go to prom with in high school.James is from a rich family who's members have all married their high school sweethearts, except him. After nearly a decade with his on and off girlfriend, he's finally free to play the field. The only hitch is that his sister is getting married and he needs a date to keep his meddling mother out of his life. How convenient that the sexy woman he's been eyeing at the gym was the same one who'd helped him out at prom, and who once again helps him out by agreeing to be his wedding date. But then the date morphs into a fake relationship that doesn't feel so fake.
I enjoyed Eadon's writing style. It's clean and clear. I like that Kate is strong, yet fun, independent and stubborn, but not annoyingly so. The mother starts off as the cliched meddling mother, but Eadon is able to move away from what you might expect, especially from a rich mother focused on outdoing her rich friends. What's nice is that while there is tension and character growth, it's not drama filled and angst ridden, which is a nice change.
The supporting characters are quirky and fun. And even the ones you'd typically think would be the foil (exes and parents) turn out to not be so bad. Mostly it's about Kate and James discovering themselves and each other. There is a love scene, but it's romantic and fitting with the story.
If you're looking for a fun, light romance, The Wedding Date won't disappoint.

Couldn't put it down. Loved the writing, it felt very natural and helped draw me into the story. Can't wait for more titles from Kelly Eadon.
I've always found romance novels hollow--they skip right to the sex and there's no actual relationship to build on. But this book had all the right buildup. Very sweet and hot story from Kelly Eadon. Can't wait for the next one this summer!!!
Cute story, but it felt rushed. The character growth felt unearned. There was also an unkind portrayal of a woman with depression and anxiety.
LOVE LOVE LOVED this book! It was engaging, sweet, funny and kept my interest. Can't wait for the next one in the series.
Charming characters you'd really like to know (if they were real!), engaging story, and steamy romance. What more can you ask? This was a quick read because I didn't want to put it down. Looking forward to more from this new author.
I really love the stories within the story. The characters are lovable and make you want to be a part of their lives. I really liked the story and couldn't put it down. Cannot wait for the next book!
Caveat I'm not a heavy reader in this genre. That said, I truly enjoyed The Wedding Date. I could relate to the main character and I found myself really rooting for her. I couldn't put this one down, mainly because of the writing style fun, approachable, and genuine. I just purchased the next book, The Family Man, and based upon the preview in TWD, I'm sure I'll enjoy it as well.
