When I first put this on for me to get a feel for it, prior to using it for instruction with my children, I was disappointed. The videography is old and simple. I was sure my children would be bored and reluctant, however, within watching the first episode, on that preview (so within 5 minutes), I had 4 children gathered around me excited -- begging to begin!!! We've been using it for months now, and it is still one of the weekly highlights. The children usually choose to have a more detailed atlas near them during the first time drawing the map, as they enjoy adding extra details. I highly recommend this!!!!Product details

My teenager enjoys doing all the activities. I love the practice they get drawing and the historical information that goes with each map.
Great addition to our homeschool curriculum!
I found that the optional DVD's (sold separately) add a lot to this curriculum. I'm teaching this at our co-op and use the DVD at home for my study time. My boys enjoy doing the work along side me and are retaining much of the info!
Enjoying this study for my middle school aged child. We also purchased the dvd and have found it to be a helpful component. The history portion is a 1 page (front and back) lesson and is easy to comprehend. There are many projects to choose from, so it will be easy to find one that will catch your child's interest.
Both my girls love using this book.... usually they would balk if asked to draw maps via freehand, but the step by step process encourages immediate delight and success !!!! Worth the money!!

We love the layout of this curriculum. It can be used as a core as well as a supplemental curriculum. It's simplistic structure makes it non-confusing and easy to implement and create your own personlized lesson plans.
I love this book. My son and I did it as an extracurricular project when he was in 5th grade. He was able to learn to draw maps by hand. The extra activities taught him about maps and map making. In the end he was able to draw a full map of the world on his own which we framed. We get compliments on it all the time. It has greatly improved his understanding of geography in social studies!
